Augmented Reality (AR)

Have you many a times returned back your product just because they didn't suit your need. Now stop worrying and there is a technology available for you to check if they are the one for you - AR technology.

On the left, is the vacuous room and on the right is the same room with
the product you want to try

Augmented reality (AR) is a live, direct or indirect video feed of a real object to display on a smart phone. This is based on virtual reality concept which replaces the real world with a simulated one. If you want to see a product in your environment, just click the "try on" button on Augment-connected eCommerce sites, and the Augment will open and overlay the "item" anywhere you point your smartphone or tablet camera. With the help of advanced AR technology (e.g. adding computer vision and object recognition) the information about the surrounding real world of the user becomes interactive and digitally manipulable. Artificial information about the environment and its objects can be overlaid on the real world.

An interesting news is that APPLE has won a patent for an augmented reality system that can identify objects in a live stream and present information corresponding to the said objects through a computer generated information layer overlaid on top of the real-world image.
